the dreaded guest list

9 times out of 10 our brides tell us that creating the guest list is the worst part of wedding planning. We would have to agree. “Aunt Marge’s sister’s step cousin who JUST had a baby, they HAVE to be invited because they are friends with Uncle George’s half brother and you know how Uncle George is.” Ok, so maybe not that extreme, but stressful nonetheless!

A few suggestions:
- Do you have this person’s phone number in your cell phone?
- Have you had a meaningful conversation with said invitee within the past year?
- Don't feel obligated to invite people who invited you to their wedding… things
change
- If your single friend isn’t seeing anyone seriously, you don’t have to include
"and guest"
- If your big day would not be complete without Mr. XYZ then invite him! Even if he
lives in Australia
- Co-workers: all or none works best- unless you have a small department or you
socialize often outside of work
- Always remember that it is YOUR day

Rule of thumb: About 20-25% of your guests won’t be able to attend

Check out this nifty little guest list guide- we love this!

how sweet it is

Let's be honest... we love what we do partly because of the cake. Our brides know that we always decline a vendor meal, but we always say "yes" to a piece of wedding cake! I grew up on birthday cake. When my birthday rolled around it wasn't "what would you like for your special birthday dinner" It was, "what kind of cake would you like?" For our small family of four we always had a birthday cake the size of a small school bus. That meant we could have cake for days and days after the birthday celebration. I digress. Wedding cake is a crucial part of your big day! Not just the way the cake tastes, but the way the cake looks and photographs. Over the years we have seen tons of fun wedding cake/cupcake/dessert ideas. Chew on these!

description from martha (because I am speechless): ladyfingers that surround a filling of raspberry mousse, raspberries, and fraises des bois, or wild strawberries, on soft almond biscuits

Hello!

We've finally started a blog and we are looking forward to sharing our wedding world with you! We are an Atlanta-based mother/daughter team and we love what we do! We've been privileged to work with so many wonderful brides, their fiances, and their families on such fabulous weddings. And we've so enjoyed working with the best vendors Atlanta (and the South) have to offer! We hope to share creative ideas, current projects, great photographs, and input from some really special vendors and venues. Each wedding is so unique and fun and we hope to share some of that fun with you! We have so many pictures to share, but will start off with a few iPhone favorites!

We wanted to do something fun and creative for a very fun and creative bride. Barb had the baker put this gorgeous cake on glass, then made a table-top display with different types of moss and fresh orchids! It was spectacular! We'll post more pics from this beautiful wedding ... lots of fun ideas!

These arrangements were super tall and so striking in this church!

Don't you just love the decor in the St. Regis? Gorgeous. Could move right in. It features that beautiful dusty blue-green shade. We made specialty linens in the perfect shade! Note the organza overlay....it has ruffles and pearls. Which she sewed on by hand. This overlay has topped many a cake table since then!

These flowers were so spectacular and this iPhone shot does not begin to do them justice- thanks, Julie, with Unique Floral Expressions! Huge, perfectly-shaded antique hydrangeas... a perfect match for the St. Regis.

Fun, fun groom's cake and cake table for a huge Alabama fan! We just love it when a bride says "surprise me!" - and surprise her we did! We're guessing this Bama-themed overlay is in their den right now

Can't go wrong with this bright and lovely color combination!
